VVimaleshwar Mahadev Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Barahat Range of Uttarkashi district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The temple is situated on the top of the Varuna Parvat mountain, at an altitude of about 10,000 feet.The temple is believed to have been built in the 8th century by the Pandavas, the heroes of the Hindu epic Mahabharata. According to legend, the Pandavas built the temple to appease Lord Shiva after they had killed their own kinsmen in the Kurukshetra War.The temple is a popular pilgrimage destination, especially during the month of Shravan (July-August), when devotees from all over the country come to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. The temple is also known for its scenic beauty, with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
The day starts with an early morning drive from Haridwar to Uttarkashi, which is known as the footstep to trekking towards Gangotri.
